Jorogumo
Jorogumo
Handsome, young men, beware of the jorogumo or golden orb-weaver. A spider yokai, the jorogumo ensnares beautiful men by presenting themselves as equally attractive women. They lure them in with promises of love and affection, only dropping the facade and revealing their true arachnid form as they are about to entrap and consume their unwitting male victims. As a golden orb-weaver turns 400, they begin to develop supernatural abilities and start to crave human flesh. Insects are no longer being able to satisfy their appetite and they quickly learn how to hunt humans. Intelligent, and strong, with keen predatory instincts, a single jorogumo has been known to operate for years and years completely unnoticed, even in a crowded city. Forgotten skeletons of their male victims litter the floor of the jorogumo’s nest, leaving plenty of room for her new prey.
