A "Daruma" is a popular Japanese doll which symbolizes

good fortune, success, and fulfilment of wishes.

Traditionally, it is a doll of a funny and grumpy faced monk wearing a red hood. Made of paper and usually heavier at the bottom, if you roll it, it will consistently return to an upright position. And so symbolizing success.
